SFMTA begins pedestrian safety bulb-outs at Hayes and Buchanan
Construction crews have begun outlining the new sidewalk extension, called “bulb-outs” that provide visibility and safety for pedestrians at this busy intersection. The construction will take about a month.
These bulb-outs will also be installed at other busy intersections along Hayes Street, including Laguna at Hayes.
The Hayes Valley Neighborhood Assn has collaborated with SFMTA to identify and create more pedestrian safety along busy intersections where no updates have been done for many years. There will be other pedestrian safety upgrades in Hayes Valley soon.
