May General Meeting Report
by Bob Barnwell

Despite the Chief of Police, George Gascon's snub, the Hayes Valley Neighborhhod Association and the Western Addition had a good meeting on May 27. At the last minute, the number #2 man in the SFPD, Asst. Chief Jeff Godown, showed up. We had over 120 people and eight restaurants. At the meeting there were two supervisors, Ross Mirkarimi and Bevan Dufty, six city departments, four of the eight managers of the housing developments in the area and many community leaders. It was a standing room only meeting. At the Korean American Center we had the President and Vice President of the Korean American Association of the Bay Area---the largest Korean American group in the Bay Area. We even had the San Francisco Consulate General of Korea. The meeting went smoothly with Captain Ann Mannix of Northern Police Station and Asst. Chief Godown handling the questions. The original replacement, Commander James Dudley said almost nothing. Questions were asked and many answers provided. The meeting room was a true mixture of the people of San Francisco. It is too bad that the Chief was not there to enjoy the good feelings of the Hayes Valley, Western Addition and Lower Haight.e
