Short Survey on Parking Policy in Hayes Valley

We all complain about parking and traffic, and now someone is trying to learn more about it. Go to www.surveygizmo.com/s/251929/jnarg and take this quick survey to share your travel preferences with a grad student who is studying the effects of residential parking policy on travel behavior in San Francisco, with a focus on Hayes Valley. Alyssa Sherman is studying Urban Planning at San Jose State University and your response will help!

A Little Bit of Hayes

May 9th, Mothers’ Day, will see a fun event along Hayes Street. The merchants and restaurateurs are having a block party! People will have the chance to stroll along the avenue, perhaps purchasing Mothers’ Day gifts, or having a special meal with Mom in mind.

The event will start mid-morning and run throughout the day. Since Mothers often have kids in tow, plans call for craft activities as well as sales specials.

Come, have a good time, and support your
local merchants!

Lily Street Block Sale

Mark your calendar! This April 24th marks the 12 annual Lily Street Block Sale, benefitting the PTA at John Muir Elementary. Dozens of neighbors along Lily and adjoining streets will be offering thousands of items for sale from 9am-3pm. Everything from antiques to furniture, books, records, clothing, housewares, electronics, bicycles, sports equipment and more.

There will also be a community BBQ from Noon to 3, and proceeds benefit John Muir PTA Teacher Appreciation Day in May and 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony in June. The central location for the event is the corner of Buchanan and Lily Streets. For more information about participating, or helping John Muir PTA, email LilyStreet@hotmail.com.
