Meeting on the future treatment of SF waste

Wednesday, April 20, 2011 – Approx. 10:00am

San Francisco City Hall
1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, Room 250

Public hearing to determine the future of San Francisco’s landfill plans will be on Wednesday, April 20 at 10am, at the Board of Supervisors’ Budget and Finance Committee meeting at City Hall. The Department of the Environment engaged in a multi-year, public bid process – at the end of which they determined that Recology’s innovative bid to transport our city’s garbage by rail was more than $100 million less expensive for ratepayers than was Texas-based Waste Management’s bid to continue trucking our city’s landfill to Altamont Pass. The Department of the Environment recommended that Recology be awarded the contract. The Board of Supervisors first reviewed this contract in February, and chose to delay a decision until next week.

Please attend if you would like to voice your opinions on the matter.
