Show to benefit youth summer programs

Mo’ MAGIC fundraiser to help support their summer youth programs:

Mo’ MAGIC is organizing another magical summer for the children and youth in the Western Addition. In our dedication to combating summer learning loss, we have coordinated activities, field trips and enrichment for hundreds of children and youth in the community.

We are pleased to announce our newest project – The MAGIC Show. It is a fundraiser that is critical to our summer learning initiatives. On April 25, 2011 we will have a reception and program highlighting Mo’ MAGIC and the Summer of MAGIC, with performances by Pop Lyfe and recognition of community leaders such as Fillmore legend Leroy King, volunteer extraordinaire Richard Johnson and Western Addition Beacon Director Takija Gardner.

The suggested donation for the MAGIC show is $75 ($50 for Western Addition residents and service providers and $20 for youth), but any donation is appreciated. Please consider making a donation and joining us for a night of MAGIC on April 25, 6:00pm at Yoshi’s San Francisco. Visit The MAGIC Show donation page here to get tickets. Donate Now!

Mo’ MAGIC is collaboration of organizations and community members working together to create opportunities for youth to grow and learn. Currently we host weekly enrichment opportunities for more than 400 neighborhood children and youth and a weekly mentoring series for 100 youth. We hire enrichment teachers for 10 organizations serving 250 youth and distribute 1500 backpacks filled with school supplies EACH YEAR.

We need to raise $50,000 for this summer’s events and activities to cover the following costs:
• 8 literacy workshops for 450 children and youth
• 8 mentoring workshops for 150 youth
• 5 field trips for 500 children and youth
• 3 enrichment teachers for 300 children and youth
• 4 community events for 500 children youth and their families
• Buy 3000 books for neighborhood programs and housing developments
• Annual health fair and backpack giveaway for more than 1500 children, youth and their families

Every tax deductible donation, not matter how small, will make a difference and is crucial to the support of this community programming. If you can’t donate money, please donate time and volunteer.
