Celebrating Hayes Valley’s Living Queer History

 
The San Francisco Imperial Council is holding a fundraiser to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the closing of the legendary drinking establishment, Marlena’s Bar and birthday of Empress Marlena, aka, longtime Hayes Valley resident Gary McLain.
 
The event features a screening of the documentary film, 50 Years of Fabulous  www.50yearsoffab.com at Proxy’s outdoor theater.  The film recounts the rich history of the Imperial Council, the oldest LGBT charity organization in the world. Founded in San Francisco by renowned activist, drag queen and performer Jose Sarria, the Council has helped shape LGBT life and social history in San Francisco and beyond throughout the last five decades.

Enjoy a pre-show reprise of the fabulous  Hayes Valley Follies Drag Review.  Hosted by the one and only original Follies Hostess Empress Galilea!  Music by dj Prince Wolf
 
Raffle prizes donated by local Hayes Valley businesses.  

Co-sponsored by Hayes Valley Art Works & HVNA. Net proceeds to benefit Hayes Valley Art Works and the film 50 Years of Fabulous.
