We are applying to close the main section of the Hayes Valley commercial corridor to vehicles every day to create outdoor space for seating and physically distanced movement. This is a part of the new city’s Shared Spaces program to support economic and social recovery from COVID-19. https://sf.gov/shared-spaces
Specifically, we propose to temporarily close streets from now through December 31 as follows:
Mon-Fri 10am-10pm : Hayes Street between Octavia and Gough streets; and Hayes Street between Gough and Franklin streets
Sat-Sun 10am-10pm : Hayes Street between Laguna and Gough streets; Octavia Street between Linden and Ivy streets; and Hayes Street between Gough and Franklin streets
Vehicles needing access to garages on the closed blocks would be escorted through the closure by event staff. The street would return to normal overnight each night.
On Tuesday , July 28th, our application for this street closure is being evaluated by a city committee for permitting. If you have questions about the closure or would like to share feedback with the committee, you can contact SFMTA Shared Spaces.
