The Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association’s board member Larry Cronander led our first 2011 walking tour of the neighborhood. There will be more upcoming walking tours of the neighborhood happening throughout the summer. Watch for future post on the website/blog as well as notices in the Hayes Valley Voice and the Hayes Valley Flyer.
90-Hour Internship Program
BEETS is a green job training program for 15-19 year olds, primarily living in the Western Addition of San Francisco. The program provides structured internships and occupational training, for young people with barriers to employment, through a variety of workshops, field trips, and hands-on experiences.
Attend workshops on Resume Building, Interviewing, Cover Letter Writing, and Finding a Job. Gain hands-on experience working in community gardens and parks. Assist with CommunityGrows garden and cooking classes for elementary-aged youth, and more!
Priority given to those living in the Western Addition
Training and hands-on experience in the field of green jobs. Build your resume, attend workshops and field trips. Earn $8/hour.

7TH ANNUAL ASIAN HERITAGE STREET CELEBRATION
May 21 (11am – 6pm) Larkin St. from Grove to Ellis, San Francisco
Celebrate Asian and Pacific Islander cultures! There will be a Healthy Living Pavilion with free Hepatitis B screenings, an Arts and Crafts Alley, and more! Receive free general admission to the Asian Art Museum as well. FREE.

On Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Koshland Park and Garden (located at the corner of Page Street and Buchanan Street), there will be a workday in the park and garden. CommunityGrows staff and volunteers will be working from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM weeding, planting, sweeping, pruning, picking up trash, mulching and making the park and garden shine. All are welcome. Please join CommunityGrows. Please wear layered, comfortable work-clothes and closed-toed shoes. Juice and snacks will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own bottled water. CommunityGrows looks forward to spending some time with you to make this park beautiful for our youth programs!
