Public Safety Meeting
Join us for a discussion with the Bureau of Urban Forestry and Northern Station.
We start off the new year hearing from Nancy Sarieh, the Public Information Officer for the Bureau of Urban Forestry. This is part of the San Francisco Public Works Department. She will talk about the StreetTreesSF Program, "Tree Safety is Public Safety." She will talk about the tree maintenance program. There are 125,000 trees in SF and some are dead. They will start with the "worst first" trees that pose a public safety concern (dead, dying or have structural flaws) near schools, bus stops and senior centers. She will also talk about the ficus trees, (many in Hayes Valley) that have structural flaws that make it susceptible to large limb failures. Public safety means keeping people safe from falling trees and limbs. Northern Station will also be present.
