We will be featuring San Francisco Public Defender Manohar Raju and his team. What role does the Public Defender’s Office play in public safety? Many of the property crimes in our area are committed by repeat offenders. The San Francisco Public Defender’s Office sponsors many community programs that deal with the recidivism problem. The Clean Slate program deals directly with the repeat offenders. For over 20 years the Public Defender’s Office has sponsored the Magic programs—B-Magic in the Bayview and Mo Magic in the Western Addition and Fillmore. We will hear about some of the other programs they support. Northern Station will join us to discuss recent police activity in the area.
