Dear Neighbors,
On behalf of the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association (HVNA), we thought it was important to let you know that we’re here to help however we can.
We’re proud that our city and region have come together to take aggressive steps during an unprecedented time, and to set a positive example for the rest of the country. The HVNA is here as an additional resource, both to our strong local leadership and to everyone in our local community. Below is more information on resources locally and throughout the region.
If you live in Hayes Valley and need help
Your neighbors are here for you. We’ve been so gratified by all the folks who’ve already reached out to see how they can help deliver food, check on people feeling isolated and lonely, or offer additional support to the community. To help match this generosity with need, please contact us if you need help or if you would like to volunteer to assist neighbors in need.
If you have health concerns
The news and best practices seem to evolve every day. If you or someone you know is struggling right now because of social distancing or health concerns, then please reference these resources for updates and help:
San Francisco Department of Health for local guidance
California Department of Health for statewide updates
Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for federal guidance
If you or your children need food
If you have children who need food, please know SFUSD will provide free meals to all children 18 and younger while schools are closed. No ID or proof of school enrollment will be required, and families will not need to enter the school building for pickup. A link to locations and schedules can be found here.
In addition, San Francisco Marin Food Bank and Meals on Wheels are open and available to help. Mayor Breed announced that the Main Public Library and 37 Rec & Park buildings will operate as emergency care facilities for children of parents on the front lines of the Covid-19 outbreak AND low income families.
If your children need help with schooling
If your children are home from school and you need help keeping them on track academically, check out the School Closure link to connect with parents or find teacher guides or other resources.
Please shop local
If you need to go out for food or essentials, please shop local whenever possible. This is an extremely challenging time for all of us, including our local merchants. Many of our local shops are staying open or offering limited hours to help serve our community. Please keep them in mind and support them whenever you can.
Last but not least, please check out our resource guide for further updates
